T

he Landings and Bay ColonyAugust 2016 Magazine created interest from
members of both Bay Colony and the Landings. One specific letter in response
to the article, Anticipating the Future: Protect the Landings? is published in this

issue of the magazine.

Pat, my wife, and I were recently bicycling in the Landings. The cell phone, now
turned music box, played music from the 1950’s including holiday tunes. These
melancholy reminders of bygone times when the Landings was full during holidays
and empty in the summer, hinted at better times. Times when are first thoughts were
about the annual Landings Fall party, not about someone peering into our windows to
see if our homes are a break-in opportunity. Sadly, residents reported these
occurrences Labor Day weekend.

The Board of the Landings Residential Association, Inc. is well aware of the
opportunists that know the Landings is one of the few high-end communities left not
being protected by police department connected camera technology that identifies
intruders that come into the community. In one Labor Day instance, a camera shot of
the escaping automobile could have led to a fruitful investigation since our Landings
member had scared the culprit off. He sped away IN REVERSE so his license plate
could not be copied. Driving in reverse at high speed isn’t safe either.

Our afternoon Annual Fall Homecoming Party is planned for Saturday, November 5.
Fun for the entire family has been the script. Look for details on time and place in the
mail, just after Halloween.

Speaking of Halloween, porch lights off or lights on, help the youngsters know if you
are participating on Halloween night. Please do not have your door light on if you
are not participating. The kids I know appreciate your kindness. Please drive slow,
too, as black witches are hard to see!
