In June, the series launches a
five-month, five-date
Neighborhood Community Night
program, with the first of the
community nights welcoming
residents of The Landings, Bay
Colony and Lake Estates to the
June 10 performance by Reggae
and Jazz artist Eugene Grey.
T
he Landings, Bay Colony and Lake Estates residents
and attendees are in for a treat when the
internationally traveled and acclaimed Jamaican
guitarist, composer, and educator takes to the oceanfront
stage. Having toured worldwide as lead guitarist for
Grammy Award winners Toots and the Maytals, Sly and
Robbie and internationally acclaimed Kid Creole and the
Coconuts, Grey said, “I look forward to performing on Fort
Lauderdale Beach as South Florida has been my home for
the last 20 years. Music is my life and passion and it will
be a joy to rock the crowd with my style of Jazz Reggae.”
“Our goal with the Friday Night Sound Waves series is to
connect our community through music and the arts,” stated
series producer, Arianne Glassman. “The outpouring of
support and attendance from the Beach business
community, local residents and neighborhood associations
such as The Landings, Bay Colony and Lake Estates, has
been overwhelming to say the least. It’s been wonderful to
watch families, friends and neighbors spend quality time
together at the start of the weekend, in the fun and relaxing
environment of Fort Lauderdale Beach.”
As an introduction to the City of Fort Lauderdale’s 5th
Annual Great American Beach Party (Saturday, May 28),
Friday Night Sound Waves will feature Beach Boys tribute
band, The Shindigs on Friday, May 27. Performing a range
of feel-good sounds from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s,
