Commissioner’s Message
Hello District 1 Neighbors
he Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) operates a comprehensive Noise
Compatibility Program and an Aircraft Noise Reporting Line, (954) 828-6666,
Tthat is available 24 hours a day for neighbors to report excessively loud aircraft.
FXE relies upon a partnership between the community, Airport users, and City staff
to minimize aircraft noise over neighboring communities. The Airport also has a
flight tracking system called WebTrak, which provides near real-time and historical
flight information and noise levels for aircraft operating near FXE. The web-based
system even provides easy access for users to view aircraft operations and noise
data. Radar flight track data originates from the Federal Aviation Administration
John Herbst (FAA) and is processed and integrated with the Airport’s noise data, measured by
District 1 Commissioner Noise Monitoring Terminals (NMT’s) located within the surrounding community.
City of Fort Lauderdale
jherbst@fortlauderdale.gov December thru April is considered the busy season for the South Florida region and
air traffic activity is expected to increase during these months. Additionally, due to
the change in wind direction that typically occurs during these months, more aircraft
will be arriving and departing towards the west. Weather forecasters have predicted
an El Niño weather pattern is seemingly more possible across the U.S., which
means Florida could see more rain and cold fronts than usual during the Winter and
Spring months. During El Niño patterns, the weather track across the country is from
west to east, bringing more cold fronts and frequent aircraft operations departing to
the west. As a result of the El Nino weather pattern the Airport anticipates receiving
numerous calls to the Noise Reporting Line about an increase in aircraft activity and
City Hall, 8th Floor noise over their neighborhoods.
100 N Andrews Ave
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311 As part of FXE’s pro-active effort, the staff will be conducting an extensive effort
to contact aircraft operators, airport businesses, pilots, and the Air Traffic Control
Tower to remind them of the Noise Abatement Program procedures and to be
conscientious of the noise sensitive communities. For additional information about
the Noise Abatement Program, please feel free to visit FXE’s website at https://

staff at 954-828-4977.
