CRCCE HOA President’s Message

                                         Membership Social

On April 10th our membership social was held at the Coral Ridge Country Club and
in spite of the mini hurricane we had a very nice turnout. The get-together was an
informal way for members of the community to get to know their neighbors. Both
Mayor Trantalis and City Commissioner Moraitis attended. Mayor Trantalis thanked
the community for its support and spoke about the changes he and the new
Commission hope to bring to Fort Lauderdale. Many of the residents had an
opportunity to speak informally to both Mayor Trantalis and Commissioner Moraitis.
Everyone to enjoyed themselves and expressed interest in getting together more often.

                                         Infrastructure Task Force (ITF)

In 2017 the city appointed an Infrastructure Task Force to review and examine the
condition and needs of the City’s aging infrastructure, the timetable for their repair
and replacement as well as the associated cost and financing alternatives for same.
The City’s existing infrastructure includes, but is not limited to: roads, bridges,
sidewalks, airports, seawalls, storm water drainage, wellfields, water
transmission/distribution mains, wastewater collection systems, treatment plants,
parks and all City facilities and structures. In March, 2018 I participated in a
workshop for District 1 residents. Of the 8 major items on the agenda, the three
areas that were of greatest concern to those that attended were: (1) roads which
included condition, capacity, traffic congestion, mass transit; (2) the sewer system
which includes treatment plants, collection system and waste water levels; (3)
sidewalks which involves the condition, need for new installation and responsibility
for the maintenance of same. One suggestion I made is the city needs to examine
the impact fees they charge developers to evaluate if the fees accurately reflect the
burden placed on our infrastructure. To correct, repair, replace all of issues the ITF
has been examining over the last year, they estimate the cost at $3 billion spread
over a 15-to-20 year timeframe. Residents are invited to attend and participate at
these ITF meetings. They are generally held on the 8th floor at City Hall from 3 p.m.
until 5 p.m. on the first Monday of the month.

                                         Update on Publix Roundabout

The city staff has been working closely with the Board to discuss options to improve
the safety of the intersection of NE 33rd Street and NE 22nd Avenue (back entrance
to the Mall). Short term improvements of stop control were suggested, but a
roundabout at this location has been requested as the proper fix. A sketch of the
