Commissioner’s Message
Greetings neighbors!
I want to bring you these updates on some local issues of interest to everyone in
Harbor Beach and nearby neighborhoods.
Pier 66 – Tavistock request for extending construction hours
On May 13th, I held a Pier 66 Tavistock Townhall Meeting along with our City
Attorney, Director of Development Services, and many community members. I am
pleased to announce that the community and developer were able to come to an
agreement regarding the project located on SE 17th Street east of the intracoastal
waterway. The project features a new hotel and retail and restaurant space. Pier 66
Tavistock requested to extend construction hours Monday through Sunday from 6am
Warren Sturman, MD to 11pm to allow for alarm systems testing, among other activities. The City’s Noise
VICE MAYOR ordinance allows construction to be done Monday through Saturday from 8am to
District 4 Commissioner 7pm and Sunday 10am to 7pm. Many thanks to the residents and Tavistock for
City of Fort Lauderdale coming together to find a more workable solution. As a result, an extension of
wsturman@fortlauderdale.gov
allowable hours of construction was granted Monday through Sunday from 6:30am
to 8pm. This will allow for early morning deliveries and exterior work. Alarm testing
will only be conducted two to three evenings per week with no alarm testing on
Sundays. I would like to thank my colleagues on the Commission for deferring this
item, allowing me to have the opportunity to gather public input.
17th Street Mobility Hub Project
The SE/SW 17th Street Mobility Hub project includes the completion of sidewalks,
implementation of traffic calming measures, the addition of raised and separated bike
City Hall, 8th Floor
100 N Andrews Ave lanes, and new crosswalks, among other improvements. In collaboration with the
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311 Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and Broward County Transportation, I
held two Townhalls for District 4 and the wider community to help develop initial
concepts. During the outreach process, a preferred alternative was chosen by
consensus of the participants with full support from Croissant Park and Poinciana Park
Civic Associations. The project was approved by the Commission and will be
considered for Federal Transit Administrative grant funding this year. Design is
expected to begin by the end of 2024 and last approximately 18 months, with
Office Contacts construction to follow.

Chief of Staff Public Safety and Improved Response Times
jpryor@fortlauderdale.gov
Public safety is one of my top priorities and during our District Goal Setting Townhall,
Renee Manchoy our neighbors made it clear that it is a prime concern. My colleagues and I approved
Community Outreach a regional interlocal agreement between Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, the Broward
rmanchoy@fortlauderdale.gov
954.828.5028 County Sheriff’s Office, and Broward County for cooperative fire, rescue, EMS, and
special operations response teams. The agreement allows for the closest available unit,
regardless of agency affiliation, to respond to a life-threatening emergency and aid.
At this time, we are continuing with our District Townhalls. Please be on the lookout
for more Townhall announcements. I look forward to the collaboration between city
staff and our district residents.
It is through continued collaboration and partnership that we can achieve great things
in District 4 and I wholeheartedly look forward to continuing to work with you. HB
Your Neighbor,
Warren Sturman, MD
Vice Mayor, District 4 Commissioner
