Leading With Enthusiasm By Luke Moorman
The Las Olas Association has an executive director
who has made promoting the boulevard her passion

he Las Olas Association embarked in 2013 on a thorough and vigilant search for
a new executive director. We set our intentions on a person with whom the
Tassociation could move to another level, beyond what it had been. We were also
looking for a person who would make Las Olas their passion – and make it their home.
We got that and so much more with Amber VanBuren.
While great leadership is the cornerstone of any successful
group or organization, our leaders are only as good as
their team. I want to use this message to acknowledge not
only our incredible members, partners, and supporters, but
to also recognize the efforts of our executive director.

President, Amber joined us in late 2013, a mere two weeks away from
The Las Olas Association our largest event of the year, Christmas on Las Olas. Amber’s
experience at Broward County, City of Fort Lauderdale, and
other non-profit executive positions gave her the perfect
background to assume the new responsibilities assigned to
her by the Las Olas Association. In the past five years, Amber has led the charge to
expand our footprint and marketing reach from our local and state levels to a more
global mindset. Her energy and passion for every aspect of life is infectious.

That same energy is reflected in the association’s new website (lasolasboulevard.com),
our revised and expanded map and guide, and a remarkable 400 percent increase in
our social media impressions. She has steadily raised the profile of the association
and continues acquire sponsors and funding sources to elevate the current event
schedule and add more events to showcase Las Olas Boulevard. Her tireless efforts
have not gone unnoticed by me, her peers, the community, and the businesses she is
charged with advocating and promoting. We have a true champion and shining star
in Amber, and we are delighted to have her on our team.

As the summer sun burns its brightest the next couple of months and we prepare for
another season of abundance and renewal, I wanted to use this message to reflect my
gratitude for Amber and, in addition, for my role as president of the Las Olas Association.
I have had the honor of witnessing the growth and change of the association serving as
your president for more than 10 years. The success of our association depends heavily on
our membership. We have also had a good fortune of outstanding support from The Las
Olas Company, the Riverwalk Trust, and the City of Fort Lauderdale.
In addition, the support of the surrounding community and neighborhood residents
lends itself to a unified downtown vision to create a live, work, and play brand of
Fort Lauderdale and Las Olas that we can all be proud of.
