                   HOLIDAY Party

                                     By Nancy Messing

t’s that wonderful time of year when Rio Vista
residents of all ages come together and greet
Ineighbors, make friends and welcome folks who
             are new to our neighborhood.

Please join us Saturday, December 2 from 6-9 pm in
Virginia Young Park in the heart of Rio Vista, for our
annual Rio Vista Holiday Party! Remember, we hold
the party rain or shine!! Everyone who lives in Rio
             Vista is welcome to attend.

This year we have two different caterers, so please
bring your appetite. We hope you will be joining us
for dinner at a nominal charge. We are offering a
delicious barbeque for $10, and a gourmet dinner
             for $20.
We always include those who are less fortunate and
we will have a donation box to collect unwrapped
toy donations as well as a box for canned goods
and/or boxes of pasta and rice. We will take all of
the unwrapped donated toys to the Childrens
Diagnostic and Treatment Center which is nearby,
and the food will go to The Pantry of Broward, Inc.
The boxes will be right there at the entrance to the
park for you and your child to place your toy and
             food donations in them.
This year’s party will feature the return of local
band, Blackwater Sound. This group of talented
young musicians, whose ages range from 12-18,
have been entertaining local audiences over the
past couple of years. They are excited to be playing
once again at the Rio Vista Holiday Party, especially
because two of them can walk home…they live
here!! Jake and Cole are brothers and have been
attending this holiday party since they were tots.
Their band covers classic and southern rock hits
including popular songs by the Allman Brothers,
Led Zep, Nirvana, ZZ Top, the Beatles, Clapton,
             Lynyrd Skynyrd and many others.
There will be much more including games, face
painters, maybe a horse or two will stop by to say
"Neigh!", an activity table, ice cream and fun.
