President’s Message
2022
is over and we should look back and be proud. We
have worked well together as a board with the resources
available and made progress with the city commitment we
are confined to. I appreciate all the board members and the time and dedication
you all put in for the Landings Community.
No work without play though. Us Landings residents know how to have fun! The
Chili-Cook-off and Christmas party brought lots of us together and were both a
success! The Neighborhood Appreciation Day at the NSU Art Museum back in
April was also a hit. We’re hoping to get additional cultural events on the calendar
this year, with more casual meet ups as well.
2023 brings a fresh start and a new Commissioner, John Herbst. We welcome
Commissioner Herbst and look forward to working with him in our quest to maintain
and improve our Landings Community; one that we are proud to call home.
Our Annual Meeting will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Invitations
are out and please, remember to RSVP by Friday, February 17, 2023.
This is a great opportunity to visit with your neighbors and meet your City, State
and County Representatives.
We are excited to have gained many new members this year and we once again
remind those of you who have not yet renewed your 2023 Membership, to please
send it in. We like to see you at our events and encourage committee involvement.
It’s a great way to deepen your sense of community in the neighborhood.
Here are a few updates:
• The four additional wall lights by the Federal Highway Entrance are expected to
ship in early February and be installed shortly thereafter.
• Street sweeping of the standing curb streets (Bayview Drive & NE 55th Street)
within the Landings typically occurs on Friday mornings.
• The request for a “NO ENTRY” sign to be placed at the exit intersection of NE
55th Street and Federal Highway was approved by FDOT.
• We continue in our efforts with the city to secure improvements to the Bayview
Drive median as a priority. The city is in the process of a search for an urban
landscape architect to address median design, replanting as required and
continuing maintenance plans throughout the city.
• A community task force has been established to work with the city in developing
a “formal request” for funds to be budgeted to address bridge repairs, lighting,
paving and other infrastructural needs.
• It is estimated that FPL will commence replacement of street lights within the
Landings in the May-July time frame.
• LPR Cameras continue to support the police’s enforcement efforts.
I look forward to seeing you all around the neighborhood!
