President’s Message
2024
has come to an end and we should look back and be
proud. I appreciate all the board and committee members
and the time and dedication you all put in for the Landings
community. It is important to preserve the board, mostly to have a strong unified voice
with our government officials with whom we maintain ongoing communications. This
means more Landings residents need to step up and get involved!
There are so many reasons to love our community. It’s quiet and uncongested and
surrounded by canals. We are close to the beach and everyday conveniences. Many
of us are boat owners and it is a true luxury to be able to get on your boat from the
backyard. Most residents take pride in our properties and maintain them well.
Helena Cooper The high property taxes and insurance costs put pressure on many homeowners.
PRESIDENT We pay our share and expect our infrastructure maintenance to be handled by the
helena@coopgroupllc.com city and county.
OFFICERS Throughout the city we have cracking streets and curbs, unsightly leaning utility
poles, and debris ridden canals. For more than a decade this seemed to be what
VICE PRESIDENT
Anne Maschmeyer people just accept.

Since I moved here in 2011, I have been told by our elected officials that the
SECRETARY powerlines are beyond their control and up to the utility companies to ground. This
Cheryl Becker seems absurd and there should be a master plan for when these horrendous poles

go away.
TREASURER
Kathleen Cool The same few homes and boats that have been neglected and in disrepair for
kacool1@aol.com years remain problematic to this date. The code compliance process has been
failing us. Fortunately, we have a new code compliance officer now and we look
forward to a close relationship with him going forward.
BOARD MEMBERS My frustration at the stagnation and apparent neglect of our neighborhoods,
Helen Bennett where the tax basis resides, in favor of appeasing the visitor industry led me to
helenbennettnj@gmail.com get involved…and to try to understand and make a difference. Although our city
Scott Cooper has modernized a lot since 2011, the infrastructure of our neighborhoods is still in
scott@coopgroupllc.com deep neglect.
Ronnie Dennis In recent years, our Landings residents helped fund our License plate reader
fishinfam@aol.com
cameras, placed on both ends of Bayview drive. The FLPD and other law
Diane Dodich enforcement agencies have access to these and we maintain them. The Board is
dionline94@aol.com now looking for a way for the Police department to take over full responsibility for
Michael Maschmeyer maintaining the cameras.
mike@urbanrooftops.com
The first phases of the improvement of our landscaping at the medians and
Dana Mullaney monuments have been completed, and we are continuously working with Parks
danatmullaney@aol.com
and Recreation to move along to the other phases. The flat bridge repairs started
Shahina Siddiqi and stalled in 2023, and we are still waiting for that to get through redesign and
shahina507@yahoo.com community input, which we as the Board have voiced many times. One big issue is
that the water under the bridge is now not even flowing and marine life, especially
manatees, get stuck. Dredging must be part of the work.
The debris and water quality in our canals is an increasing problem. I no longer
want to paddle board there. The landscapers blowing yard waste into the canals is
not helping and we feel that there needs to be some type of responsibility on part
of the homeowner for this to be avoided. I understand that many landscapers are
not even from Broward County and slapping them with fines is not feasible.
