President's Message
The Landings Residential Association
Greetings Landings residents.
am excited as I begin the year as the new president of the Landings Residential
Association, Inc. I want to thank you for allowing me to serve in this capacity. I
I am looking forward to working with the new board to continue the legacy of
leadership provided by Paul Renneisen for the past two years and the previous
presidents before him. During his terms we have accomplished many things that
benefit our neighborhood such as working with the city to maintain and improve
the common area landscaping and maintain the flags and the flagpole. We have
also begun the process to work with the city to put in place safety mirrors at the
Bayview Drive south bridge and the 55th Street bridge so that it will be possible to
see traffic approaching from the other side when entering the roads from a
driveway or side street. We think this is an important safety project because too
many cars are still traveling too fast when going over those bridges.
During the coming year we will be working on some important new projects.
Mike Watson, President Our bylaws have not been updated since 2007. There are some provisions in the
Landings Residential Association
bylaws that may need to be amended. We will be creating a bylaws committee to
review our bylaws and suggest changes and improvements in them. If you have any
suggestions for us to consider in this committee please let any board member know.
We are looking for volunteers to serve on that committee. I would especially like to

have an attorney chair the committee for us. If you would like to volunteer for this
President committee please contact me to let me know. We will be forming the committee in
Mike Watson the next month or so. Suggestions for improvement and changes will be presented
wizardwats@msn.com to the board during the year. Any changes approved by the board will need to be
voted on by the members at our next annual meeting before they can be recorded.
Vice President
Diane Dodich We will also be forming a committee to work with the city to get automatic traffic
gates and security cameras installed at each entrance to our neighborhood.
Secretary
We believe that the automatic traffic gates will act as an additional traffic calming
Dana Mullaney
device to hopefully slow down speeders going through the neighborhood. These
Treasurer gates will not restrict passage to the neighborhood and anyone will still be able to
Robert Korn come through. However they should be programmed to open automatically one car
at a time so that traffic will be spread out and it may serve to encourage those who
don’t live here to use Federal Highway, which will make our neighborhood a little

quieter and safer.
James Becker The Fort Lauderdale police department has an officer at each of our board meetings
Kathleen Cool to report on crime in our neighborhood. Jim Becker also provides us with significant

additional crime data. We are told that we live in a very low crime neighborhood.
