President's Message
The Landings Residential Association
Greetings Neighbors,
There is a lot to report on this month.
I will try not to bore you.
Annual Dinner Meeting
We had an outstanding annual dinner meeting on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at
the Coral Ridge Yacht Club. As usual, the table decorations and food were
excellent. I want to thank Ann Marie Dari for making all of the arrangements for us,
and also to the other volunteers who helped and signed people in. If you weren’t
there you missed a good time and a good meeting.
Dignitaries in attendance and providing updates for us included Samantha Verner
from Florida House of Representative Chip LaMarca’s office, County Commissioner
Lamar Fisher and our City of Fort Lauderdale district representative Heather
Moraitis. In addition, we received reports from Officer Teddy Levin of the Fort
Mike Watson, President Lauderdale Police Department and code enforcement officer Patrice Jolly.
Landings Residential Association
During the meeting we approved some changes to the Bylaws of The Landings
Residential Association, Inc. In addition, the officers and directors for the coming
year were approved. Officers and directors elected were Mike Watson, president,
Diane Dodich, vice-president, Steve Lawrence, treasurer, Dana Mullaney, secretary
OFFICERS and Kathleen Cool, Ann Marie Dari, Myra Freeman, Carol Bryan, Bill Schonlau,
President Susan Peirson and Jim Becker as directors. I’m looking forward to another exiting
year.
Mike Watson
wizardwats@msn.com There was also much discussion regarding the increase in dues and the security
Vice President patrol. There were many questions which I tried to answer the best I could. However
Diane Dodich it became apparent that many people either did not receive the recent e-mail that
Secretary was sent discussing our changes and many of those that received it did not fully
Dana Mullaney understand it. I have learned since the meeting that only approximately 45% of
those it was sent to actually opened it. Accordingly we recently sent out a mailing to
Treasurer
Steve Lawrence all of the owners in The Landings which included the original e-mail explaining our
decision and generally what we are planning. We also included a discussion
memorandum that answered most of the questions raised at the annual meeting. If
DIRECTORS
you did not receive the mailing please let us know so that we can make sure
Carol Bryan everyone receives it.

AnnMarie Dari Water Meters
Myra Freeman There has been much discussion recently regarding the water meters, inconsistent
Susan Peirson water bills and excessive water bills in District 1. I attended a community meeting
on March 4 chaired by Commissioner Moraitis and including several other
Jim Becker
representatives from the city. It was heavily attended mostly from Imperial Point

residents but including us as well as residents of Lauderdale By The Sea. If you
have experienced inconsistent or excessive water bills this may be important to you.
I have written commissioner Moraitis myself regarding my water meter. The city is
