             Flag Committee

The American, State of Florida, City of Fort Lauderdale, and
Landings Residential Association flags continue to be wonderful
representatives of the people living in our community.
The two flags poles on Bayview Drive remind us daily of
our commitment to our country and neighborhood. Most
landscaping is maintained by the city, with flowers and bushes
being weeded and fed by our residents as needed. Flags are
repaired or replaced as necessary, which is more frequent
in windy weather. Half-staff flags are honored as is done by
the country as a whole or by special request as appropriate.
And the lighting of the flags beautifies our neighborhood and
is required for the American flag. We have been restricted in
proper lighting as there is no electrical connection on these
medians. We have had to use only solar lights and they
are inadequate for proper illumination. The city has recently
offered to consider helping us obtain a meter and provide
permits to light the flags properly. If this proposal is passed
our flags would be enhanced greatly.
If anyone would like to assist in this patriotic program or give
information as to the Flags/ Landscaping/ Poles condition,
please call 954 491 8040. We welcome all volunteers!
