President’s Message
Thanks to all who attended the Annual Meeting at Christ Church on March 1.
Special thanks to Christ Church Pastor Nathan Adams and his staff at Christ Church
for opening the doors of the Church to the community and providing us a great
space to hold the meeting.
We had a good turnout and the meeting was very informative. We had a number
of guests. Broward County Mayor Lamar Fisher and Fort Lauderdale District 1
Commission Aide Melissa Whiddon both attended. Our FLPD Security Patrol leader
Lt. DeAnna Greenlaw spoke about the Security Patrol. Officer Victoria Negron-
Rodriguez of the FLPD Neighborhood Support spoke on a new team that has been
formed to address neighborhood crime issues. The entire FDOT District 4 Bayview
Drive team gave us an update on the Bayview project. City Neighborhood Support
Tim Hernandez Manager Luisa Agathon and non-profit CEO Carl Falconer spoke on the homeless
President
issues along US 1.
A summary of the Annual Meeting minutes with meeting photos is on page 8.
OFFICERS Traffic Calming and Safety Enhancements—Bayview Drive. The Bayview Drive
project is nearing completion. Both
Tim Hernandez CRCCE roundabouts have now been
President
constructed in CRCCE. As a reminder,
Karen Polivka the project runs from Commercial to
Vice President Sunrise through both CRCCE and
Craig Singer the Coral Ridge neighborhoods to
Treasurer our south. Construction started on
April 27, 2022 and FDOT, who is
Vicki Lynch
Secretary managing the project, expects it to be
completed in May. So it’s almost done.
Specific improvements included in the
BOARD OF DIRECTORS scope of work included:
• Providing continuous sidewalks on
Jonathan Brody both sides of the road all the way
Renata Cammarata from Sunrise to Commercial
Tim Hernandez • adding bicycle lanes from NE 26
Judy High Street to NE 25 Place;
Vicki Lynch • installing/improving mid-block
Robert Mayo crossings south of NE 19 Street and NE 45 Street;
Brian O’Connell • Raising and installing a special red textured surface on the intersections at NE 14
Paige O’Mahoney Street, NE 18 Street, NE 27 Street, and NE 40 Street and;
Karen Polivka • Constructing roundabouts with a special textured red surface at NE 37 Drive and
Bruce Quailey NE 47 Street;
Craig Singer • Widening the roadway from NE 23 Street to east of NE 24 Court; and
Jeff Stich • Reducing the pedestrian crossing distance at NE 13 Court.
• Drainage improvements in CRCCE at NE 47th Street and NE 37th Drive
The hope is the roundabouts and raised intersections will cause some of those who
use Bayview as a cut-through to instead stay on US 1, and slow down those who
continue to use Bayview. We’ve all seen drivers going 50-60 mph down Bayview.
CORAL R DGE They still may, in between the roundabouts and raised intersections, but the new
COUNTRY CLUB ESTATES traffic calming measures will at least make them slow down 2-3 times as they drive
C OMMUNIT Y ASSOCIA TION through CRCCE. The roundabouts also enhance safety by eliminating the most
dangerous movement at any intersection – the left turn – in a couple key locations.
