President’s Message

                                                  Traffic Calming and Safety

                                                  Enhancements—Bayview Drive.

t’s been hard to miss all the construction activity throughout the neighborhood
over the last couple months. The Bayview Drive project has moved north of
IOakland Park Boulevard from Coral Ridge into CRCCE. Sidewalks are nearly
complete in Coral Ridge and are in the process of being installed on the west side
of Bayview in our neighborhood. The northern roundabout at NE 47th Street and
Bayview has been installed. The southern roundabout at NE 37th Drive and
Bayview will start soon. There will also be a raised table intersection installed at the
Tim Hernandez intersection of NE 40th Street and Bayview.
President Drainage improvements at NE 47th Street and NE 37th Drive to reduce flooding in
these areas are also being installed. The City has promised they will find funding for
large specimen trees to be installed inside the roundabouts, so drivers will see them
and slow down. Sleeving for irrigation and electric to illuminate the trees is being
OFFICERS installed as part of the project.

Tim Hernandez The two roundabouts and the raised table intersection will hopefully slow down

traffic on Bayview and deter some short-cutters from taking Bayview altogether.
Karen Polivka These traffic calming measures will not by themselves prevent people from speeding
Vice President everywhere else along the length of Bayview, but it’s better than what we had.
Craig Singer Over the years we have requested stop signs and speed humps be installed along

been rejected by the City and County.

Treasurer We expressed our extreme displeasure to the City and FDOT (which is managing
the construction) with the length of time Bayview has been shut down at NE 47th
Street and the speeding detoured traffic through the neighborhoods, specifically on
NE 40th Street and NE 25th Avenue. We originally agreed to a one-week closure
