LHIA President’s Message continued
6,710 pounds of Trash
Thank you to Ocean Conservancy’s 34th Annual
International Coastal Cleanup of Broward County.
Removing more than 6,710 pounds of trash in September.
It is a good reminder that cigarette butts, small pieces of
plastic and trash that are on our streets make their way to
the ocean thru the storm grates. This pollutes our canals
and kills our sea turtles. Please don’t litter and pick up
your dogs waste, any plastic or cigarette butts and
dispose of it properly. We all want clean water and a
trash free neighborhood.
Beach Park

The new Las Olas Park, while not totally complete, is now
open to the public with walkways and bathrooms. The So proud that the City of Fort Lauderdale chose to
lovely landscaping is so much more pleasing than the donate a used fire truck to the devastated islands of the
parking lot. The park will allow for lots of room for events Abacos. The truck was heading to the auction block with
such as the Friday Night Sound Waves. The top floor of an estimated worth of around $10,000 when the
the Las Olas parking garage which has a small rooftop commission voted to make the badly needed donation to
park is also open. our eastern neighbors. RV
