Commissioner’s Message
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
urricane season is upon us, and now is the time to prepare. As such, we
held our first (annual) Hurricane Expo on Saturday, August 12, at Hardy
HPark. The event was geared for District 4 and open to all residents in the
city. Supporting us from Fort Lauderdale were Neighborhood Support, Parks &
Recreation, Police Department, Fire Rescue, Public Works and Code Enforcement.
Also participating were Broward County Department of Health, Red Cross, United
Way, Rebuilding Broward, Home Depot, Walgreens and Publix. Handouts and
information were given out to help with emergency preparedness and response.
Also sandbags and cases of bottled water were given to residents for free. We
Warren Sturman, MD plan on hosting this as an annual event, prior to hurricane season each year.
Vice Mayor
District 4 Commissioner We are fortunate in District 4 in that we have a written “Neighborhood Disaster
City of Fort Lauderdale Plan & Hurricane Handbook”. As the name implies, it is geared toward having my

District 4 staff support residents responding within each neighborhood. Please take
the time now to familiarize yourself with the Neighborhood Plan.
