Commissioner’s Message
Design Phase of Four New Bridges in
Harbor Beach and Rio Vista
The City Commission has approved an agreement with FDOT to accept funds for
the design of four bridge replacements in District 4, three in Harbor Beach and
one in Rio Vista. The new bridges include the West Lake Drive bridges at Lucille
River, Mercedes River, and Estelle River, as well as SE 7th Street at Rio Cordova.
The Harbor beach project includes replacing three existing bridges along West
Lake with new bridges consisting of one travel lane in each direction, upgrading
signage and pavement markings, reconstructing roadway approaches, milling and
resurfacing. The City is working with Jacobs Engineering Group to prepare designs
for the replacement to ensure climate resilience and improve safety. The estimated
Warren Sturman, MD construction cost is $9.2 million which is partially funded by City and federal funds.

Budget Season is Here
One of the most important functions of the City Commission is setting the City Budget

includes our Community Priorities such as improving Public Safety, upgrading
Infrastructure (water, sewer, flooding, stormwater), improving Traffic & Sidewalks,
and investing in our Parks. September 3rd is our first City Commission Budget
Hearing, followed by the second and final hearing on Sept 12th. I encourage you to
City of Fort Lauderdale attend these meetings to be a part of setting our financial goals for the coming year.
