A Message from the Rio Vista Civic Association, Inc. Officers

he RVCA Board of Directors recognizes the significant impact the
sewer break is having on your lives and that this is a serious matter.
T In an effort to alleviate some of the stress and uncertainty residents
will be facing once the heavy equipment and camera crews are packed up
we have requested the following from the City of Fort Lauderdale and
expect to have a response on 12/18/2019:
              • Expedited Claims Processing for Environmental Services Cleanup.
              • Instructions on how to file a claim if you sustained damage or clean-up
                costs from the sewage break.
              • Instructions on Sewage Overflow and Clean-up Procedures on your
                property.
              • Temporary alternative housing maybe available on a case by case
basis. Please contact the Commissioner Sorensen for more information
at 954-828-5003 (office) or 954-802-3311 (cell) or
                BSorensen@fortlauderdale.gov.

Additionally, we are in contact with Commissioner Sorensen daily to
communicate concerns and questions that are being conveyed to the
Board. If you have not previously signed up for City and District 4 Alerts
the links are included again below. The City of Fort Lauderdale new
releases and photos are available here.
In response to a resident inquiry regarding a possible "class action
lawsuit" we have been advised by our legal counsel, Chuck Tatelbaum,
that the Rio Vista Civic Association, Inc. does not have legal standing in
order to pursue a claim for any damages that have resulted and may
result in the future as a result of the unfortunate sewer rupture. Property
owners looking to explore their rights and remedies they may have should
              consult with a qualified attorney.
In closing, please know that the current RVCA Board of Directors is
actively working to advocate on behalf of affected residents and
welcomes any questions or comments you may have. As we have a
response to the requests listed above and others we will share them. RV
              Christina Currie, President
              Mark Snead, Vice President
              Rio Vista Civic Association, Inc.
